The Hearing is presided over by a Hearing Officer, and a court reporter transcribes it. The residents and property owner had their attorneys present for the Hearing, held May 12-14, 2014. Expert witnesses testified, as did residents and the public There was simultaneous translation of all proceedings provided to Spanish speakers. The Hearing Officer, Craig Labadie, will render a decision in late August or September. The decision may be appealed to the City Council.
Each night the large Hearing room was standing room only. Residents in their black, “Save our Homes” T-shirts, and most other attendees wearing yellow stickers of support. The media were there in force – TV, radio, and print., local, regional and national.
